The Joy of Books
Books. Books. Books everywhere! And ‘dancing’, no less!
It’s funny how last year I didn’t care much for books. Well, ‘care’ is not the right word. More like I didn’t pay them much attention as I do now. Really, all I can think about is books now. It’s not like I discovered how amazing books are – it’s more like I forgot, and I have just recently remembered.
I really like this video, which went viral just a few weeks ago. That’s not why I like it, however. Imagining that books have ‘secret lives’ is a fun, lovely idea, and I’m glad that Sean and Lisa Ohlenkamp made that idea as real as it can be.
I mean, the books are practically dancing, all night long! How is that not awesome?
I love book stores. And libraries. And houses with a big shelf, with dozens if not hundreds of books in them. Walking in these places, it makes me think about the stories they have to tell, not only about the books’s subject, but also about the writer. It makes me think of how, and when and why they were wrote, what brought the write to create these books, to give them life.
And it makes me imagine them having emotions, and feelings, and a life of their own and doing crazy things when no one is looking.
And who knows? Maybe they actually do.
