SMASH!, Harry Potter and Airports.

I think that’s real… I think that’s an official trailer… whoa.

Ahem, yeah, hi. So much for writing seven posts, seven days straight, all about books eh? I didn’t even get to Friday. Oh well, I’ll write/post the price tags post sometime… Not sure when haha. I would do it soon, but I don’t want to write a book-related post so soon after The Great Book Quest of 2012. The last few days have reminded that, as amazing as books are, there are still many things in life. And so, this post comes to you in three parts!1

Part 1 – SMASH!

I didn’t say this earlier because I wasn’t sure if it was official or if I was allowed to say it 2 but I am now working for SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show! Which is an anime convention here in Sydney that runs every July. And I’m working for them! :D

So on Saturday I went to the city with Kiri (who is also working for them) to meet the head of the Marketing Department as well as the rest of the team. It was really exciting and I believe the meeting went really well. While it’s only volunteer work, I’m still excited since I really like the SMASH conventions, and I get to write for them, which is what I want to do. I love writing. :3

Part 2 – The Harry Potter Exhibition

On Sunday morning I went to meet some friends to check out Powerhouse Museum’s Harry Potter Exhibition. As it always happens when I go out with friends, I had a lot of fun, although I don’t think I would have enjoyed the exhibition as much if I had gone alone. One, it was expensive ($32 for a student entry? Come on!), and two, looking at costumes and props used in the film isn’t as appealing as it would be to other people. Especially since I think they aren’t the same prop – surely the actors are much taller than me!

Having said that, I would still recommend if you’re one big, BIG fan of the series and you had some money to spend and some time to kill. Oh, and beware of the shop – my friend spent quite a bit on the shop. Oh, I also got a wand.

Dumbledore's Wand - The Elder Wand!

Part Three – Airports

I don’t go to airports often, thank god. While I would like to go travel around Europe some day, I’m not really fond of the idea of travelling – let a lone by plane. It’s not the idea of flying that I’m not fond of (I got over it on my first flight when I was 13) but 13-hour flights aren’t fun. Nope.

However, one thing I have been wanting to do in regards to airports is to go and pick up someone. Or you know, because of my lack of personal vehicle, meet them when they arrive. And I finally got to do that today! While I don’t enjoy the idea of getting up early, going to the airport by train (if a bit expensive…) turned out to be a nice little trip and, of course, I got to see my friend who’s been in the US for a month.

  1. Four if you count this little introduction…
  2. I tend to play it safe when it comes to these things
